And now Reason.tv has featured the same IRVINE FOR MAYOR campaign commercial thanks to Eric Dondero!

Check out the various reactions.

Third Party Watch has featured one of the IRVINE FOR MAYOR campaign commercials!

John Brennan is the unofficial mayor-elect of Bexley, as outlined in this ThisWeek article. The IRVINE FOR
MAYOR campaign received 5% of the vote, as reported by this article.

The unofficial results are also posted on the Franklin County Board of Elections' website.

And Blue Bexley has also posted the results and some reactions. Note that I did win Blue Bexley's poll on
the side! Perhaps I can be Bexley's Internet Mayor....

The Columbus Dispatch’s Bexley reporter, Alayna Demartini, has enlightened its readership on the recent mulch expenses situation here in Bexley (“Bexley auditor raises stink over cost of mulch”, Nov. 3), or as it is becoming commonly known as here, “Mulchgate”.

Read the article at this link.

I think Bexley residents -- and those outside Bexley – would find it interesting to know that the city’s top official, Mayor David Madison, has compared some $65,000 in taxpayer money to a “whiz in the ocean”.  Even still, several people here haven’t heard anything about this issue.

The fact is, as Bexley’s auditor, Larry Heiser, has pointed out, one whiz in the ocean may be acceptable a few times, but if several whizzes are taken in one area multiple times throughout the fiscal day, the total amount of whiz adds up.  And rightfully, people start to notice and give you questionable looks.  Let us not forget, whiz is ultimately a form of waste.

$65,000 here and there does add up.  The next mayor, whoever it may be, and his or her administration must be responsible for controlling this whiz and all future whizzes to protect taxpayers’ money from being whizzed away, and avoid a potentially worse scandal, “Whizgate”.  Something like that could get messy for everyone in the ocean.

I promise to work with Mr. Heiser to prevent this from happening.

I went to see Barack Obama speak at a rally downtown, and got on Cleveland's Channel 8 FOX News saying Obama and Ron Paul (R-Texas) should get a ticket together "for young people".

October 25, 2007

ThisWeek featured this article on Matt Lampke's FOP endorsement. For the record, I was never considered for this endorsement, but I have paid special attention to the Bexley Police's efforts to get a new police station. Heck, I've even taken them donuts, and went on a ride-along:

The Other Paper ran an article on the Mayor's race in Bexley, but has not featured it on its website. Hopefully we can get a copy for our website in due time.

The Bexley News featured this article on the candidates' forum at Brookwood.

October 18, 2007

Here is a ThisWeek article covering the various "Meet the Candidates" nights.

And here is another one covering the last forum, at my church, Brookwood Presbyterian.

Here's a less-than-flattering post about my campaign from a Conservative blogger on the Right Angle Blog. Hey, buddy, I'm not a kid anymore.

Thanks to the folks who stuck up for me. I did get a haircut.

And I think the blogger would be interested in my endorsement.

The Capital Chimes ran a story about our involvement of the school's PRSSA chapter with the IRVINE FOR
MAYOR campaign.

October 12, 2007

The Blue Bexley blog has proclaimed me as the "best performance relative to prior expectations" in last night's "Meet the Candidates" forum at the Bexley Public Library.

The blog has also posted all the candidates' answers to the question "What would you do to keep residents with modest income in Bexley?" My answer was effective and got a laugh.

And finally, The Eastside Messenger has written an article on the forum as well. There will certainly be more to come.

October 11, 2007

ThisWeek has come out with an article on LastWeek's (get it?) "Meet the Candidates" forum at Capital University, which was arranged by the Fuller Society.
Many thanks to Emily Barker and Josh Albright for making it happen and including Capital students in this election.

I have just been endorsed by the Franklin County Libertarian Party for Bexley Mayor. Many thanks to all those who made this happen -- I am honored and humbled.

Our South Bexley Social was a big success. By success, we mean people showed up. Thanks to all of those who did. I even grilled, Mayor-style.

After a long time of deliberation, I have finally gotten a haircut, given to me by the man who gave me my very first, Chris at the Drexel Barber Shop. Look at how happy I am.

Look for me around Bexley or at the debates to see the new 'do.

The Cincinnati Police have found my car, with a window missing and the ignition ripped out. So much for buying yard signs.

August 19, 2007

My car was stolen in Cincinnati, Ohio, in route to a film festival in Louisville, Kentucky. Notice the lack of car in the photo.
The people on the news said this would happen.

More stories coming from Bexley News and The Columbus Dispatch. Stay tuned...

I wrote a letter to the Bexley News that was published hailing the 'Green' Building initiatives, but it hasn't been put online yet. So here is the letter and some mention thanks to the Blue Bexley website.

Today I turned in 282 signatures to the Franklin County Board of Elections and filed the $45.00 filing fee to get on the ballot for Mayor of Bexley. Many thanks to all those in Bexley who signed the petitions!

Here is a pic of me with the Class of 2002 float in the parade, not campaigning (it was a non-political event), but certainly making a scene.

My sign says "Will Work 4 Food." Funny, but mostly true.

June 28, 2007

To the Citizens of Bexley:

I am pleased to announce I am going through the process with the Franklin County Board of Elections to become a candidate for Mayor of Bexley in the 2007 election.

What has prompted my candidacy?  The timing is right – for myself and for this community – for a younger perspective. Sometimes you just gotta run for Mayor. A recent trip to Washington, D.C., for a student conference convinced me to commit wholeheartedly. Watching the politicians there, I realized representing and serving a constituency is the greatest privilege this country has to offer.

The face of the City is rapidly changing, but it need not lose its character. The new mayor of Bexley should be a product of what the City prides itself upon the most: its environment for raising and educating children. But he or she should also be experienced with the world outside of Bexley's doors to enhance and maintain a positive City image.

Please look around the website to learn more about myself and my ideas for a respectable Bexley future.

Sincerely,
Travis Irvine

“Sometimes you just gotta run for Mayor.”
